RCMS PARTICIPATES IN 5TH SECURITY AND DEFENCE SCHOOL SEMINAR IN BRAZZAVILLE, CONGO

The Regional Centre for Maritime Studies (RCMS) proudly participated in the 5th Security and Defence School Seminar, held from June 2 to 5, 2025, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. This significant gathering brought together representatives from regional educational institutions across three continents, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of security and defence education.

Captain Chamila Mendis, Director of RCMS, represented the centre at this prestigious seminar, delivering a comprehensive presentation.

The seminar provided an invaluable platform for RCMS to connect with fellow institutions from across Africa, Asia, and Europe. The seminar emphasised the importance of cross-regional collaboration in addressing contemporary security challenges. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions about: Finding external funding and RETEX; Education Modernisation and Network Promotion and enhancement.

RCMS extends its sincere gratitude to the DCSD for their continued support and to the hosts for their exceptional hospitality in making this seminar a resounding success. The warm reception and professional organisation created an ideal environment for productive dialogue and relationship building.

LCdr Carine Buzaud, the French Director of Studies, also participated in the Seminar and this participation marks a significant step in RCMS's journey as part of expanding the international network. The connections established and knowledge shared during this seminar will contribute to strengthening the centre's capacity to serve the region and beyond.
