The Regional Centre for Maritime Studies (RCMS) successfully conducted its inaugural Advisory Board Meeting today (17th February 2025) at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). This milestone event brought together key representatives from Sri Lanka and France, marking an important step in the Centre's development.

During the meeting, board members thoroughly discussed and formally validated two critical documents; the Strategic Plan and the Communication Plan for the Centre. These foundational documents will guide the RCMS's future operations and outreach activities. Additionally, the board engaged in strategic discussions regarding the Centre's expansion and future initiatives.

The meeting held with attendance of Mrs. Marie-Noëlle Duris - Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the French Embassy in Sri Lanka, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara - Vice Chancellor of KDU, Rear Admiral Buddika Liyanagamage - Director General Operations of the Sri Lanka Navy, Commander Jean Baptiste Trouche - Maritime Security and Safety Advisor to the French Embassy, Captain (ND) Chamila Mendis - Director RCMS, Lieutenant Commander Carine Buzaud - Director of Studies (French), Lieutenant Commander (N) Manaranga Thilakarathne - Director of Studies (KDU).
