The Regional Centre for Maritime Studies (RCMS) had the honour of hosting Colonel Muhammad Farooq, Defence Attaché at the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, on an official visit that underscored the growing maritime cooperation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on 26 June 2025.
Colonel Farooq was warmly received by Captain Chamila Mendis, Director of RCMS, and was taken on a guided tour of the Centre’s facilities. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase RCMS’s academic environment, training infrastructure, and its role in advancing maritime education in the region.
During the visit, both parties engaged in constructive discussions focused on potential collaboration between RCMS and the Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCE) Lahore, Pakistan. Key areas of interest included knowledge exchange, joint training initiatives, and institutional cooperation aimed at enhancing regional maritime capacity.
The visit reflects a shared commitment to strengthening professional ties and fostering long-term partnerships in the maritime domain. It also highlights RCMS’s continued efforts to position itself as a regional hub for maritime education, training, and dialogue.
